Disney Quest and Typhoon Lagoon

Tuesday 29th July

I am writing live from Pizza Planet, well it's actually called Disney Quest but it's an indoor mini theme park. We've just finished battling a series of pirates in our own pirate ship. Rachel was steering, the boys and I were firing the canons. We did OK, not surprising as we had just paddled a boat up a prehistoric river for practice. My driving of a space rover while rescuing space colonists was not met with great applause, by the rest of 'Team Read', I put this down to the three gunners but apparently the problem was that I kept setting off before the escaping colonists could get on board.

While Rachel and I doze in a corner the boys are in seventh heaven choosing which free arcade games to play on.

Actually I was relieved to get here at 6ish as after lunch we had gone to 'Down Town Disney', a sort of theme park without the rides. The boys seemed happy and had a great time playing in the pavement fountains, but I'm thinking 'we've got an everyday pass for Disney, why are we in souvernier shops?' Sam actually said today, 'Can we stay at home and not go to Disney today, I want to play Daddy at pool'. What are they thinking I've waited 40 years to hit Florida Disney.

Wednesday 30th July

Another relaxed start to the day, before we went off to Typhoon Lagoon (a Disney water park). Following Mike's advice (if your an avid reader of the blog you'll know who Mike is!) we arrived just before 4.00 p.m. and found (as Mike had predicted) that loads of people were leaving. This meant that we had more or less four hours to play with less queues.

Lots of great water rides. Johnny and my favourite was 'Crush 'n' Gusher' which describes itself as a 'watercoaster', but the most unusual was the chance to snorkel with tropical fish and sharks
(OK, so they were only nurse sharks, but I hope your still impressed). The salt water in this pool was cold and Sam decided he wasn't quite up for it, but Johnny, Josh and I went round a couple of times.

One of the things the boys have got really into is penny collecting (http://www.pennycollector.com/). These aren't just any pennies! Most of the places we've been to have had penny machines. You put in 1 cent (plus 50c), choose your design from the three offered, then turn the handle as you flatten your penny into a thin oval and press on your chosen design. I like it because they are comparatively cheap, they're good souvenirs of the places where we've been, and (probably most importantly) they've both bought little folders to keep them all in. I think there both up to 12 each now.

Well I'll sign off for now. Tomorrow will be our first non-Disney day since we arrived nearly a week ago because we're off to The Kennedy Space Centre.

Sounds such an amazing trip guys. I have been checking on your progress each morning!I wish such technology existed when Sarah and I were traveling (possibly it did but we didnt know how to use it!)Niamh would very much like to see the pennies-we've tried to collect a few as and when weve visited somewhere-don't have a fancy folder though! I am very impressed with your dedication to Mike and the early starts!!Carry on the good work.xxxxP.S.I can sympathise with your thoughts on New York Rachel, the first thing I did when Sarah and I got back from travels was search the internet for jobs there!
